My name is Zoë Collins and I am a costumer and clothing designer living in Vancouver, BC.

Since graduating from the Visual College of Art and Design of Vancouver in 2013, I have made costumes for circus, live performances, television and short film, as well as sewing custom and commercial pieces for independent clients.
My final collection at VCAD, Gísladottir (named after my mother's Icelandic maiden name) took inspiration from the sweeping geometry of the Scandinavian countryside and the rich textures of the West Coast rainforest.
This collection features stretch bamboo jersey fabrics with structured cotton twills, often within the same garment, to highlight these contrasting landscapes.
In 2015 and 2016, I worked full-time for the Jean-François Rochefort company in Montréal as Stitcher and Cutter.
At Rochefort I had the opportunity to work on custom builds for companies such as Cirque du Soleil. These costumes required a strict adherence to quality specifications, to ensure the safety of performers.
I was also responsible for the patternmaking and construction of the Hashtag the Panda mascot for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
At Rochefort I worked with a mechanical engineer to create a moving raven wing costume for the Walt Disney World Festival of Fantasy parade (seen from 7:19 to 7:48 in the video below).
I also prototyped and created pieces for Royal Caribbean International’s Fine Line aqua show, such as the weighted Sufi-inspired skirt in the video below:
In 2017, I created costumes for the Caravan Stage Company’s Nomadic Tempest show, which incorporated live opera, circus and film.
I made custom costumes for acrobats, opera singers and child actors, and collaborated with the videographer to sew a large-scale 3D projection-mapped set piece.
